Co-PIs Mladenov and Williams are using the FlowCAM to image particles in atmospheric deposition. Undergraduate honors student, Natasha Goss, is leading our effort to develop a protocol to quantify particles, both mineral and biological, in atmopheric deposition collectors at the Niwot Ridge Long Term Ecological Research Station. In summer months we are seeing large amounts of pollen in wet deposition collectors. Turns out that pollen is very easy to identify and count with the FlowCAM (see image left).
